Two Months Later: Monero’s Former Lead Maintainer Released From US Custody

Riccardo Spagni was arrested recently for unrelated charges to Monero’s privacy token. He has since been released by US officials.

CryptoPotato reported that Spagni had been arrested for fraud between 2009 and 2011. The reports said that the crimes did not relate to Monero’s privacy coin. The allegations stated that Spagni intercepted invoices from EnSync and used false information in order to create similar invoices for the same company. CryptoPotato reported in August that Spagni was arrested. I am working with my lawyers to find a way to go back to South Africa as soon possible to resolve this matter and move on. It’s what I have always wanted to do.
