Quentin Tarantino, one of the most celebrated filmmakers of all times, recently announced that he would be auctioning seven “secret NFTs” containing uncut Pulp Fiction scenes. These non-fungible tokens are unique and valuable because they only allow their owners to see the content.
Tarantino’s NFT collection
Tarantino’s collection is to be distributed via SCRT Labs “Secret Network”, a layer 1 blockchain that is privacy-focused. Director Tarantino’s NFTs will use the network’s native privacy and access control. According to Secret Network, it will be initially auctioned on OpenSea’s largest NFT marketplace.
Each secret NFT is unique content that has never been heard or seen before. The content will include uncut scripts from Pulp Fiction and comments by Quentin Tarantino. His description will reveal previously undiscovered secrets about the film’s creator.
The director said, “I’m thrilled to be presenting these special scenes from PULP Fiction to fans.” Secret Network and Secret NFTs offer a new way to connect fans and artists, and I’m delighted to be a part.
Tarantino seems to be right in this assumption. Celebrities, athletes, brands, as well as many other public figures, have made the leap into NFTs to reach their audience. DC Comics, for example, recently gave away a set of unique superhero NFTs.
From a $10 million budget, Tarantino’s Pulp fiction earned over $200 million. Many fans will flock to the NFT collection in search of more exclusive content, due to its popularity.

What are secret NFTs?
Secret NFTs can be considered “private by default” tokens of the Secret Network. These NFTs allow users to include either public or private metadata. This allows them to choose whether to show the content to others. They might also decide to reveal who owns the blockchain.
CryptoPotato was told by Guy Zyskind (Co-founder of Secret Network, CEO of SCRT Labs), that “NFTs may be the most disruptive technology to emerge out of this decade.”
“The art world is full of innovation, and the media are actively exploring all possible uses for the technology. Secret Network now offers privacy and access control. Zyskind says that this will ultimately allow for a multitude of new use cases.”
This is a departure form traditional blockchains such as Ethereum, where all information is public. This opens up a new avenue for artists to work in the space. Secret NFTs allow creators to keep their earnings secret and set up private galleries.
