MetaMask Allows iPhone Users to Buy Crypto With Apple Pay

MetaMask released a series of updates to its mobile app 4.3.1 on March 29. The most important was the integration with Apple Pay.

Apple doesn’t support crypto payments directly through its platform. This means that Wyre must be used to make crypto payments. Wyre also integrates with Apple Pay.

Now, users can also purchase crypto with their debit or credit card. This eliminates the need to send ETH in advance. Apple Pay users can deposit up to $400 per day into their wallets using their Visa, Mastercards or Wyre API.

MetaMask Mobile version 4.3.1 is now LIVE!

Apple Pay (@sendwyre) allows you to buy crypto on iOS. This provides more transparency for site interactions and support for gasless transactions when necessary.

It doesn’t get much better! It does! Now we have dark mode!

Crypto Credit Cards

MetaMask uses Transak’s payments platform to enable users to purchase crypto using their debit or credit cards. To use one of these platforms, you must first complete KYC (know your customer)

Although MetaMask claims it doesn’t profit from them, layer-1 users will still have to pay gas fees. MetaMask charges 0.875% for each transaction.

Another update was support for gasless transaction, which refers to private blockchains or protocols that pay for gas for users.

CryptoPotato announced that MetaMask had reached 30 million monthly active users on March 15. This makes it one of today’s most popular crypto wallets. ConsenSys, an Ethereum solutions company behind the wallet, also received a $450million fundraising round.

Joseph Lubin, ConsenSys CEO, announced on March 16 that MetaMask would be launching its own token. Although there was not much information on the token, long-term MetaMask customers will hope for an airdrop that is similar to Uniswap.

Beware of fake wallet apps

MetaMask is a top-ranked wallet for crypto trading, making it a target of hackers and scammers. ESET, a cyber security firm, has revealed a sophisticated scheme to distribute fake wallet applications to Android and Apple mobile phones.

According to the research, the scheme was in place since May 2021. Fake wallet apps for MetaMask and Coinbase, Jaxx and Trust Wallet were distributed on Facebook groups to target Chinese users.

Many of these made it to Google Play Store. However, the tech giant removed them in January.
