Huobi Reports: 70% of Crypto Investors Joined in 2021 (Survey)

Huobi Group conducted research and found that nearly 7 out 10 crypto-holders entered the market by 2021. The survey found that 25% of participants believed it was a scam/bubble despite the growing interest in the asset class. This is likely to cause the market to crash.

7 out of 10 People Entered the Crypto Ecosystem in Last Year

Huobi’s survey surveyed more than 3000 people. It was conducted by Huobi in December 2021 and the results were published on January 13.

Nearly all participants admitted that they are crypto holders. An in-depth analysis revealed that 68 percent of participants invested last year. Only 9% of respondents said that they had invested in crypto more than four years prior.

46% of investors said they had invested $1,000 or less in this asset class. 25 percent of investors admitted to investing between $1,000-$10,000.

The awareness of emerging trends is also high. Participants said that more than half of them had heard about non-fungible tokens and the Metaverse. 25% were aware of Decentralized finance (DeFi).

The majority of crypto owners surveyed supported the assertion that digital assets could transform the definition money. However, some skeptics of this asset class predicted a dark future. 42% consider cryptocurrencies “too risky,” while 34% worry about the absence of comprehensive regulations.

Surprisingly, each fourth participant stated that bitcoin and altcoins were a “scam/bubble” that is about to burst.

Jeff Mei, Director of Global Strategy at Huobi Group, stated that crypto still has a lot to go before it becomes mainstream. He believes that crypto participation will increase if there is more clarity about global regulations.

BTC is owned by more than 25% of Americans

Grayscale Investments published the results of a similar study almost a month ago. It found that 26% of American investors have bitcoin and 55% have entered the crypto market within the past 12 months.

A majority of participants also indicated an interest in digital asset investments. This suggests that the percentage of holders could increase.

“The 2021 Bitcoin investor Study results confirm that more investors see longer-term value adding Bitcoin and digital currency to their investment portfolios,” Michael Sonnenshein, CEO of Grayscale Investments, said back then.
