Frahm: Framing the Metaverse

The hot topic in 2021 has been non-fungible tokens. There’s no way around it. The industry was stunned by their meteoric rise. However, few could have predicted the rapid growth.

It is also worth noting that non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, were the main on-ramp for field investors throughout 2021. This may be in addition to other trends that weren’t as long-lasting.

While NFTs can be used in many different ways, the dominant narrative was art. It’s difficult to know if their exaggerated valuations are justified or not. Many projects were launched to digitize art in the digital age.

NFTs are often seen as an integral part of a painting, or picture. NFT projects are rarely given enough attention to their framing.

“A picture without its frame is like a person without their soul”

This quote is by Vincent van Gogh, arguably one the most famous painters. This is where Frahm enters the picture.

What is Frahm?

Frahm was born in 2021. It was inspired by the growing use of non-fungible tokens in the traditional art world. This led to the idea of displaying NFTs in brick-and-mortar galleries.

Enter Athena van Frahm, a gallery owner with a Ph.D. on History of Art. According to the team behind this project, they started with physical NFT frames. They defined requirements around aspect ratios and digital display types. Sizes, wallet integration, user interface, etc.

They decided to go a different route in the end. They believe most galleries and exhibitions will be virtual and exist. The metaverse would provide the natural environment for NFTs. This could theoretically dwarf the art that is exposed in the physical world.

Frahm’s central thesis states that NFTs in metaverses will be framed. Web3 galleries come in many forms.

Frames as NFTs

Also, digital frames will be non-fungible tokens. It is important to keep in mind that digital frames are integral parts of the history and expressions of art. They are, in a sense, intrinsic to art.

This has not yet caught up to the metaverse. This area still needs improvement, especially when compared to how frames are used in the physical world.

Digital art can be enhanced by frames. This is true for both collectors and artists. It’s only natural that space should reflect the value of an investment in art. While frames add beauty and elegance to art, framing can also be art.

This is a very new technology, so it is possible to see a future where digital frames will have the same significance as physical frames. Digital art is already in existence.
