Four EOSIO Protocol-Based Blockchains Commit $8M to Rebrand Technology Stack

EOS, Telos and WAX have joined forces to control the development of EOSIO protocol core codes that underpin each of these blockchains. The coalition announced that they will dedicate $8 million annually to core development and outreach for developers this year.

Rebranding EOSIO

According to CryptoPotato’s press release, the four blockchains will be independent from each other and will work together to improve EOSIO core code. All code created by the group will be accessible for all EOSIO protocol-based initiatives. It will be available for free and open-source.

In January of this year, the coalition was formed. It included other EOSIO protocol projects like Ultra, Proton FIO, EVA and even Block.one’s ex-partner NFT projects.

ENF founder and “community elected CEO”, Yves La Rose, was represented by Douglas Horn’s Telos Core Developers (TCD). They agreed to form an alliance in support of the core protocol code two months later. Soon WAX Network and UX Network joined the alliance. It was also stated that other groups could join the coalition soon to participate in development priorities and make their voices heard.

La Rose called it “a major milestone” and said,

“This alliance represents a major shift in direction for EOSIO protocol’s future and is a significant milestone for all businesses that leverage its technology. It is a powerful force multiplier that will pay dividends for many years. The network effect of multiple EOSIO Blockchains working together to ensure the sustainability and growth of our common codebase, and other open source innovations, is something that will continue to pay dividends.

The Coalition

Coalition members will participate in the thorough review of the EOSIO protocol’s current status. They will also identify funding options for priority proposals and provide a public roadmap for development.

Each of the four EOSIO protocol-based Blockchains has its own focus areas and is ready to compete in different arenas. As a group, the group will concentrate on areas where the blockchains overlap. Incentives are available to speed up the development of the core protocol.

Douglas Horn, Chief Architect at Telos, made a jibe about Block.one.

“This is a crucial moment in the history of EOSIO protocol. The users now have the ability to develop instead of Block.one. Developers will be able to communicate about code releases and priorities so that they can develop their own plans. “I’m excited to see what we can do for users.”
