Florida Should Allow Residents to Pay State Fees in Crypto, Says Governor

Ron DeSantis, a Republican Party member and Florida Governor, suggested that the government allow businesses to pay state taxes with digital assets such as bitcoin. He said that pilot programs will be launched by the authorities to test blockchain technology for vehicle monitoring and to validate Medicaid settlements.

A Crypto-Friendly State

Ron DeSantis presented his idea during a Tallahassee appearance. According to his opinion, Florida entities should be able pay state fees directly to the Department of State via digital assets.

DeSantis also suggested that $250,000 be taken from the budget to fund a Blockchain Title Pilot Program in the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. DeSantis suggested that the underlying technology of cryptocurrency could help in monitoring automobile records. DeSantis also suggested that blockchain technology be used in Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration, as it could authenticate Medicaid transactions or detect fraud.

Total distribution of the budget to the crypto industry is $700,000. In conclusion, DeSantis said:

“This is something we appreciate, and we want the state government to be crypto-friendly.”

Miami is the Right Place for Crypto

Florida’s pearl, Miami, has started to become a cryptocurrency hub thanks to Francis Suarez, a pro-bitcoin mayor. The largest-ever event, which was centered on the primary digital asset, was held in Miami this summer.

Mayor Suarez is a BTC holder who is an avid advocate for the cryptocurrency industry. He informed him that he will be receiving his next salary in bitcoin. The mayor stated that the asset has the greatest advantage of all because it isn’t tied to either the fiat system nor the monetary policy. He also stated that the asset’s underlying blockchain technology was “the most secure and most decentralized blockchain technology on the planet.”

The Mayor of Miami stated that his administration was working to allow residents to pay their taxes using Bitcoin. This is due to the positive results of the crypto project Miami Coin.

We want to do it using bitcoin because that’s what our trust and knowledge allows us to do so. It’s the most trusted and verifiable network we know of.
