DC’s Superheroes are NFTs
DC Comics, one of the oldest and largest comic book companies in America, will increase its NFT efforts by releasing a new collection of superheroes.
This time, DC will partner with Palm NFT Studio, a blockchain network for creativity and culture – a Palm NFT Studio. The collectibles will be made available to all DC FanDome members, new and old. A second version will be available for those who use social media channels.
Jim Lee, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics, would personally select the digital collection, which would include characters such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. You could also collect three covers of each character at three levels of rarity.
For example, Wonder Woman fans can get a Common NFT (1987’s Wonder Woman #1) by George Perez, a Rare NFT (2021’s Nubia and the Amazons #1), and a Legendary NFT (Yara Flower on 2021’s Future State: Wonder Woman #1).
Marvel is not behind
It’s worth noting that DC Comics’ biggest competitor, Marvel Entertainment, has also joined NFT craze with a non-fungible token collections.
CryptoPotato reported that the company partnered with VeVe, a blockchain-based digital collectibles market, to launch the first official Spider-Man NFTs. Five versions of the superhero were available in the initial series, which cost between $40 and $400.
Dan Buckley, President of Marvel Entertainment, stated that the release of Spider-Man tokens non-fungible is only the beginning. He believes it could launch other digital collectibles from superheroes in near future.
“Spider-Man is one the most iconic Super Heroes in Marvel Universe. So there was no better way than to kick off our global digital collectibles journey with VeVe. We are excited to offer Marvel collectors and fans even more exciting drops in August and beyond.
The company revealed that all 60,500 digital statues were sold within 24 hours of the launch.
Marvel Entertainment released a new digital collection shortly after with more icons like Captain America, Bucky Barnes and the Red Skull.
