The University of Sao Paulo (USP), signed a cooperation agreement (RACA) with Radio Caca (RACA), to study various educational applications in the United States of Mars metaverse. This includes operating virtual lands within the metaverse.
According to University of Sao Paulo, the team will assess the legal, technical and economic aspects of the metaverse and create research programs to study its inner workings and limitations.
This makes the University of Sao Paulo the first Latin American university, along with Radio Caca and international universities, to enter the metaverse. Other institutions, however, are also exploring the possibility of opening offices in the metaverse beyond their academic fields.
The USM Metaverse will be home to its own USM land
One of the most intriguing aspects of the University of Sao Paulo’s new “virtual land” is the fact that it will create a headquarters to allow students and employees to interact in a “virtual, augmented, or mixed reality environment”.
Metaverse interactions will allow any student to experience the immersive experience. This could dramatically change the student experience and open up discussion about the possibility of a fully functioning university that is only accessible in the metaverse.
The project is ambitious in its own right: It includes the United States of Mars and the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) which is sponsored Ripple, one of most important companies in the crypto industry.
This experiment could prove to be useful in different areas of research, such as 3D Modeling and remote education.
Radio Caca hopes to create an open metaverse for universities
Radio Caca’s CEO Jeff Watney stated that Radio Caca’s goal was for universities and content creators “to be able build an open metaverse that centers on user freedom.” He also said it was a great honor to be able “new experiences that unleash the full potential of Web3”, along with the University of Sao Paulo.
RACA is proud to be able to host USP, Latin America’s largest public university, in the USM Metaverse. We will create new experiences together that unlock Web3’s potential for all people. This is our goal: to create an open metaverse that allows users freedom.
Marcos A. Simplicio Jr., a professor at USP said that it was the first time that the university had received or handled a nonfungible token (NFT). The NFT is the virtual land in 3D Metaverse, United States of Mars.
Radio Caca is a vibrant community with the support of well-respected companies like OKX Blockdream Ventures and ConsenSys Mesh’s Tachyon accelerator. Ripple Labs Inc. is its new partner. This new metaverse could prove to be very useful for students and professors, if it is adopted by large universities around the world.
