Anonymous Reportedly Hacks Russia’s Central Bank, Threatens to Expose 35,000 Secret Documents

Anonymous attacked the Russian Federation once again, hacking its central banking and threatening to release thousands sensitive documents.

The group also continues to urge global companies not to withdraw from Russia to do so. Otherwise, they may be hacked.

nonymous Exploits Russia’s Central Bank

It has been exactly a month since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the “special military operation” against its Eastern neighbour. There is no end in sight. NATO, the EU and other countries have refused to participate in the war, despite having condemned Russia’s actions.

They decided to impose financial sanctions against the aggressor, its leaders and, ultimately, its people. Numerous global companies including giants such as Apple, Nike and Shell stopped serving Russian-based customers.

Anonymous, a hacker group nearly two decades old joined the fight against Russia. They broke into over 30 Russian targets, and collected more than RUB 1 Billion. The group later offered $52,000 in bitcoin to Russian soldiers who surrendered tanks.

On March 24, the group posted on Twitter that it had exploited Russia’s central bank. It threatened to release 35,000 files containing “secret agreements” within the next two days.

nonymous Against Foreign Companies

While the number of Russian companies is increasing, there are still a few that refuse to leave Russia. The hacker group published logos of those companies and warned them that they were “running out of time.”

Anonymous stated that they felt “sorry” for the Ukrainian people being killed violently and asked them to stop their operations on Russian soil.

Companies that are still operating in Russia should cease all activities immediately if they feel for the victims of violence in Ukraine. Your time is running out. We don’t forgive. We do not forget. #Anonymous #OpRussia pic.twitter.com/acAoTe5QYZ
