Pew Research Center’s recent survey found that 86% of Americans have at least heard a bit about digital currencies. Only 16% of participants said they had personally invested in one of these currencies.
Cryptocurrency Awareness is a Concern for mericans
Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan think tank, surveyed more 10,000 Americans to assess their crypto knowledge. The results showed that 24% of participants knew a lot about digital assets while 62% only had heard about them. 13% don’t know what bitcoin, Ethereum, or any other virtual tokens is.
A poll revealed that 31% more Americans with higher incomes are likely to have heard of cryptocurrency, compared to 25% for those with lower salaries. Only 21% of those with lower incomes are familiar with the subject.
Since 2015, a similar study that looked at cryptocurrency awareness found that only half of those surveyed knew anything about it.
Only 16% of crypto investors and traders deal with the asset class. Men aged between 18 and 29 years change the trends dramatically. The survey found that they are the most active segment of the industry, with 43% having some experience in trading, investing or using digital assets. This is 19% for women younger than 30 years.
It is not surprising that people over 65 years old have no interest in digital assets and only 3% admitted to ever having dealt with it.
Crypto Investments Have Given Fortune to Some Americans
Another poll found that approximately 4% of Americans who have invested in crypto markets have quit their jobs because they have made enough profits. 7 percent of participants claimed to know someone who quit their job due to cryptocurrency gains.
The large number of individuals in this study are those who have the lowest income brackets, 64% of whom were earning less than $50,000 annually. Only 8% of people earning more than $150,000 have done this.
The results seem to have impressed Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur who owns The Dallas Mavericks. He even shared the post via his Twitter account. He suggested that the percentage could rise if bitcoin and other altcoins continue their growth against the dollar.
